Description

A superb pair of 19th century high backed chairs in the manner of the furniture designer Daniel Marot. They comprise of carved scrolled and foliate crestings with an ornamented pierced vase splats and upholstered in a olive coloured velvet fabric. They are on cabriole shaped legs which are carved with leaves and having a shaped and scrolled stretcher between. Daniel Marot (1661–1752) was a French Protestant, an architect, furniture designer and engraver at the forefront of the Late Baroque "Louis XIV" style. Made from stained beech-wood and in overall lovely condition. circa 1860 Seat Height: 47cm.
