Born in 1953. In 1972-1973 he studied at the School of Restoration near Avignon.At 25, "The Goose crucified" won the International Grand Prize for Painting at the Côte d'Azur. In 1981-1982, "The Same Table" wins the prize of the Salon d'Automne in Paris and he finds himself selected for the 15th Grand Prix of Contemporary Art in Monaco. In 1983, Sylvain Legrand opened a school of painting in Cannes with 40 students to its destruction by a fire where "The Goose crucified" and 6 years of painting perish.

In 1984, "The Tower of Babel" is awarded at the 18th Grand Prix of Contemporary Art in Monaco. 1987 first exposure wash house Mougins and opening a gallery in the village shop. In 1995, a London private modern art museum acquired 10 works by the artist. He has also exhibited in 2001 at Ascheim (Munich) In 2002, Sylvain Legrand launches a monumental sculpture to Roquette sur Siagne. The same year he exhibited at the Berliner Bank of Berlin presented by the gallery of Crescendo. In 2006 he exhibited again in the washhouse Mougins. His work is visible in Mougins and Berlin permanently.
