A large possibly teak or mahogany ship's wheel, a brass band reinforcing the felloe or wooden rim of the wheel and with eight spokes radiating out from the central brass drum or spindle which together with the rest of the steering mechanism forms part of the helm and is the device used aboard a water vessel to control that vessel's course.English date unknown possible early to mid 20th century.
