A pretty and very rare Welsh slate Desk Tidy. Featuring expert carving and the sentence 'A wedding gift November '84'. In wonderful original condition, some small chips to corners otherwise excellent with remnants of gold leaf decoration.

A traditional form of Welsh folk art, most examples originating from the slate mining regions of north west Wales. Carved by the quarry-men and slate workers during their spare time these pieces were often made as presents for loved ones or to generate additional income. Finer pieces displaying the makers skills were often entered into local Eisteddfodau.
