AN ORIGINAL ANTIQUE TELESCOPE BY A MASTER MAKER

An original brass telescope by the highly respected firm Kelvin Hughes

This telescope has a brass case and is sleeved in leather

There is a brass cap to the top lens

It was bought in France strangely

The leather is split part down its length , stitching firm for about half way and the leather is scuffed and bloomed through use

There seems to be a small dent under the leather in the main body
There is no cover for the eyepiece I wouldn’t know if there should be

The edge of the eyepiece looks like it may have the slightest dent also which doesn’t affect the lens at all

The telescope extends and the name Kelvin Hughes number 403

Kelvin Hughes has a proud and enviable history dating back over 250 years tracing its roots back to Thomas Hughes a Master of the Clock-makers Company and William Thomson who became Lord Kelvin a prolific inventor and one of the world’s greatest scientists.
They are famous for their military telescopes
