Description

Edwardian silver stamp case of bright cut floral design with a blank cartouche.

The case is fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1908, and the maker Albert Ernest Jenkins, with a full set of marks to one half of the case, and a partial set to the other. This side also bears the registered design number 540975.
The hallmarks, except for the maker's mark, are crisp and clear.

Albert Ernest Jenkins operated from Vittoria Street Birmingham. He was also known to have used the Chester assay office.

The stamp case is approximately 2.4 cm (1") by 3.3 cm (1.3") including the catch. It weighs 6g

The case is in good overall condition, thought there is the usual "pocket rash" dings commensurate with age and use. The hinge works well, but there is a gap even when the catch is fastened.
