Description

This stunning 1930s art deco dining table is a wonderful example, having the classic geometrical shapes and functional design.
Perhaps the most attractive aspect of this table though is the history of its base...

- It is hard to notice due to the skilled repair that has been carried out, but in the middle section (or foot shelf) there lies a small bump in the wood.
The previous owner kindly explained that the table originally belonged to their parents, who owned the table for many years from new. As the second world war
ensued through France, so inevitably came the day when the town they lived was under heavy gun fire from nearby troops. In a desperate bid to find safety the couple hid underneath
the table. Taking heavy fire the couple survived, only later realising how close they came to injury after finding a single bullet lodged into the base of the table where they had been huddled.
The bullet has since been removed by the previous owners and the table repaired. -

Ornate Motifs at each corner of typical Deco style, Geometrical shapes outline both table feet

Solid wood - Very heavy and in excellent condition for age - perfect for everyday use.

Has had generous coat of wax to preserve its current original condition.


Due to this items history and age it will display a unique time worn patina.
We believe this only adds to both the beauty and character, creating an individual piece.
This is not a new item and therefore it should be expected to contain some subtle knocks in the wood, signs of age and use (or patination).
However we ensure that every piece we have is photographed and described to show a perfectly clear interpretation of an items condition including any imperfections.
