Description

A small, attractive Chinese brass mounted rosewood tabletop cabinet with three drawers, circa 1930. Solid rosewood throughout with hand-engraved brass mounts adorning all sides with the exception of the panelled back. An impressive circular medallion is mounted to the top consisting of five bats surrounding a geometric symbol. Comprising a cupboard above a drawer, the cabinet's two doors open to reveal two drawers each with inset campaign-style handles and a mounted engraved brass butterfly on the inside of each door. The drawer below the cupboard has an elaborately engraved brass plate with lift up handle shaped as a footed pot with flowers. It stands on four brass mounted squat bracket feet.

Punched on the base is the maker's mark together with 'Shanghai, China'.

It would make an attractive jewellery box for a dressing table.
