Description

A beautifully framed original Japanese woodblock print of a kabuki actor playing the role of Okaru by Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III, 1786-1865), Edo Period c.1854.

A further example of this print is held by the Tokyo Metro Library.

Dimensions: Frame - height 55.5 cm x width 44 cm
Image (mount window) - 35.5 cm x 25.5 cm

Condition: The print has not been inspected outside its frame but appears to be in very good antique condition with well preserved colours. It is beautifully presented within an ivory mount and black stained wooden frame which is in perfect condition. This print was acquired from the same source as several other original woodblock prints all of which are presented in the same way.
