Modernist Design Charger / Bowl by Purbeck Pottery


Description
This is a large Mid Century Modern studio pottery stoneware charger with a wonderful Modernist abstract design in dark brown against a cream background with the 'Purbeck Pottery England' stamp in indigo to underside. Although the style is very evocative of its era - 1960s to 1970s, it is a rarely found design from Purbeck Pottery.Purbeck Pottery was a pottery company based in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, England. They produced a range of stoneware pottery items such as plates, bowls, vases, and figurines. The company was founded in 1959 by Robert Jefferson and closed in 2006.

Condition: The charger is in excellent condition without chips or cracks. The bottle of water used as a scale in one of the photographs is the same size a standard 750ml wine bottle.
