Robert Tavener signed painting of Cheltenham No2
Description
This is a fine original Robert Tavener RE (1920-2004) signed ink and watercolour painting of a street scene in Cheltenham. It is signed bottom right. This particular composition with the large bold trees in the foreground has similarities with many of Tavener's linocut images for which he has an enthusiastic following.Condition: The watercolour is in excellent condition. As it is attached to card with a wide margin this has helped to prevent any handling marks on the image itself.
Although better known for his linocuts, Taverner produced many watercolours with the South Downs landscape and historic buildings within a short drive of his home in Eastbourne providing the greatest inspiration and subject matter. Further afield, the town of Cheltenham was also a favoured subject for creating both linocuts and watercolours. We have a number of Robert Tavener's watercolours for sale including another view of Cheltenham.
Dimensions: Image 47 x 43 cm, Card 64 x 52 cm
Postage & packing: This can be posted for £8 to a UK address. Please contact us for a quote if you are an international buyer.
