Description

This is a strikingly beautiful large cameo glass vase of squat bulbous form made by André Delatte in Nancy, France in the 1930s. It is decorated with grape vines picked out in a dark brown outer layer which contrast with the pale yellow-green background of the inner layer. It is signed 'A Delatte Nancy'.

André Delatte (1887-1953) founded a small glassworks “Les Verreries de l’Est SA” at Jarville, near Nancy France in 1921 where he specialised in producing high quality Art Nouveau and Art Deco designed cameo and enamelled glassware.

Condition: The vase is in very good condition with the exception of an internal hairline on the inner side at the top where the glass folds over to form the rim. This is believed to be a manufacturing flaw as there are no chips or cracks which you might have expected had it been damaged. This hairline is not at all obvious from nearly all angles and it displays very well.
