This is a super quality, vintage handwoven Chobi Ziegler rug of huge proportions possessing a fabulous floral design in earthy tones from using vegetable dyes, which has been professionally washed ready for the home.

Probably made in Pakistan from wool hand-knotted on a cotton base this rug would have taken two to three years to make. The wool would have been dyed using natural colours obtained from wood, skins of fruit and vegetables, nutshells, and dried flowers. The background for the open floral design in the main field is made from undyed wool resulting in a significant variation in colour from ivory to beige. The colour also varies depending on which end you view it from, so we have photographed it from both ends to demonstrate this.

Dimensions: 431 x 318 cm excluding fringe (14ft 2in x 10ft 5in)

Condition: This rug is in very good vintage condition with even pile and is free of any repair work. There is some sunlight fading to the outer red border at one end which has given it a slightly pinkish shade of red. The rug has been professionally washed resulting in colours which are as vibrant as they were when the rug was first made. The previous owner said that the rug was purchased for in excess of £5000.
