Description

This is a vibrant vintage Kazak rug handwoven in 100% wool, about 20 to 30 years old with good pile and recently professionally washed. The first and last photographs show the rug photographed from both directions.

The central field contains three octagonal medallions on a red background with the middle differing in its colour scheme by having a blue snowflake-shaped motif within a white field instead of a red snowflake within a dark blue field as is the case with the outer medallions. Five borders surround the central field comprising two wide central borders separated and encased by three narrow guard borders. In the outer wide border the background colour is a dusty pink whereas in the inner wide border white and pale green dominate the geometric shapes which sit within a dark blue field. The overall effect is vibrant yet harmonious.

Dimensions: 180 x 127 cm (5ft 11inch x 4ft 2inch)

Condition: The rug is in excellent condition with a good pile and little evidence of wear. There is a small repair to one edge (see close-up photo of the back of the rug). One fringe is longer than the other but both are secure with no loose threads. The rug has recently been professionally washed.
