Description

This is a fine quality pair of Japanese bronze vases of imposing size and of elegant shape in fine antique condition dating from the late 19th or early 20th Century (Meiji Period).

Birds of different species in various positions of flight are cast in high relief around the outside of the vases. The detail in the birds and the trailing plants, which are cast in lower relief, is exquisite.

Maker's marks are located in the centre of the underside of the bases. Each vase has been cast in two with a joint at the flared base of the neck.

These large decorative vases would look fabulous in the right location such as on a pair of Chinese stands (as in the last photo) or on a mantelpiece.
