Description

This is an antique Indian Nagina carved ebony stationary box in excellent original condition

Dating from the mid 19th Century this box originates from the northern province of Uttar Pradesh in India.

The box is made from ebony which has been exquisitely carved on the top and all four sides with geometric and floral patterns by Muslim craftsmen.

There is a brass escutcheon, brass lock and the lid opens on two brass stop hinges.

The interior is sandalwood-lined and the internal surface of the lid is as beautifully carved as the external surface

Size: 31.5 cm wide x 12 cm deep x 10 cm high (12 1/2" x 4 3/4" x 4")

Condition: The condition is excellent. The only flaws are two fine shrinkage splits on the lid, one to each side. There is no key
