Description

This is a lovely quality Japanese bronze jardinière in fine antique condition dating from the late 19th Century (Meiji Period).

Birds of different species in various positions of flight are cast in high relief around the outside of the bowl. The detail in the birds and the trailing plants, which are cast in lower relief, is exquisite.

Maker's mark is located in the centre of the base underside.

It is a large decorative bowl which would look fabulous in the right location such as on a centre table or a coffer.

Dimensions: Body diameter 32 cm Rim diameter 25 cm Height 28.5 cm

Weight: 4.7kg

Condition: The bowl is in fine antique condition with a attractive colour and patina. There is a small ding to the right of the flying bird in the second photo, and there are two pinholes in the sides which probably originated from its casting.
