Description

Pair of fine quality Anglo-Indian Bidri chalices dating from the 19th Century.

The main body of the chalices is decorated with mosques and bowls of flowers in an alternating arrangement set within a background of scrolling foliage. Borders of stylised leaves ring the top and base.

The inside of the chalices is undecorated and the metal is oxidised in places.

They are heavy items the first weighs 1101 gms and the second 1207 gms ConditionCondition The chalices are in good but not perfect condition. There are no dents, cracks or scratches but some of the black enamel is missing on the foot and uppermost border where they have seen most wear. However, the enamel is almost completely intact on the main body of the chalices.
