Antique Waltham half hunter pocket watch, 1921.

The watch has a grade 610 seven jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 23974658 which dates it back to 1921.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a beautifully engraved inscription, ‘For Long Service, Presented to Daniel Sanford, together with a Certificate on his completing 15 years service with Lever Brothers Limited, Port Sunlight, 3rd March 1906’.

There is a discrepancy in dates which suggests the movement is a later replacement. The movement was often replaced as a whole in the case of serious damage, such as water ingress.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold filled Moon model by the Dennison Watch Company, the company supplied most of the cases for Waltham UK. The case is in good condition, just some rubbing around the hinge where it rested on the bottom of a pocket.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition.

The signed dial is in lovely condition with original blued steel hands including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
