Antique silver cushion cased wrist watch, 1926.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, possibly by the ebauche (blank movement) manufacturer A Michel, which is working nicely.

The watch measures 30mm wide excluding the later winding crown and 30mm high excluding the lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Glasgow (import mark), 1926 with a sponsor’s mark for James Weir.

James Weir acted as an assay agent for foreign manufacturers who did not have a British address from which to submit items to the assay office. Weir's company received packages of watch cases, stamped them with the registered sponsor's mark, sent them into the Glasgow Assay Office for assay and hallmarking and then returned them abroad.

The case is in good condition for a piece with general light marks and a little unevenness to the back.

The lens is in good condition (some reflection showing in the photos).

The dial has a small area of damage by number 10 and radiating hairlines.

A later leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
