Antique silver Limit pocket watch and chain. 1912

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement, with 15 jewels, which is working well. The movement was made by G Thommen for Limit, importers of watches into the UK, based in Oldham, Lancashire, UK. The movement is protected by an inner cover.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and has Birmingham hallmarks for 1912 with a case maker’s mark for the Birmingham manufacturer Dennison. Dennisons supplied cases for various watch makers. The case has light surface marking from use but overall it is in nice condition for a 1912 piece. The case back has a vacant cartouche.

The glass lens is in nice condition.

The signed dial is in good condition with original gold hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute track.

The watch comes with a single silver chain, 34cm including the T-bar and the clasp. Each of the links has the lion silver mark. Also included is a silver and enamel Coventry city football club fob . This is hallmarked for Chester 1931 and engraved Season 1931-32.

The chain and fob weigh 44.9 grams.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.

Due to Customs regulations, we are unable to send watches / precious metals to certain countries. If you are unsure about your country’s regulations, please contact us and we can check for you. Any orders from prohibited countries will be refunded, less any Paypal fees which are non-refundable.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
