A gorgeous 1950s marcasite encrusted Stratton Star loose powder compact with a "jewel" mount. A hard to find elegant slimline vintage compact mirror. We are so delighted to find this vanity in the original box with all the original accessories, which are styled to enhance the beauty of the facet cut "jewel". The lid is engraved an Art Deco inspired rising sun design. The mount is set with marcasite (pyrite) stones - all are present. The whole compact is crafted from gleaming lacquered brass with a deep golden patina which will not tarnish or need to be cleaned. The mirror gives a clear and accurate reflection. There are a couple of hard to see marks on the mirror which do not detract from the enjoyment of this accessory. The original mirror sticker is in place. This too is colour co-ordinated with the light blue accessories. The compact is signed STRATTON on the mirror bezel and inner lid. An automatic opening inner lid ensures ease of access. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. Weighs 101.8 grams.
