A rare and beautiful vintage sterling silver and enamel compact mirror. The lid is adorned with white and the palest of blue guilloche enamel. An enchanting hand painted kingfisher in flight is shown in fine detail. Crafted by Henry Clifford Davis in 1963 this Birmingham assayed vanity is in very good condition. All loose foundation powder and also pressed foundation with powder pans measuring up to 63 mm diameter are suitable for this compact. The compact is unusual, as it is complete with the original removable lidded compartment for use with loose face powder. This was custom made by the maker. Both the compact and the removable powder compartment bear the maker's mark, sterling and date year hallmarks. The original sifter is in place. The mirror gives an accurate and clear reflection. The hinges and catches work perfectly. The silver does not have any dents. Measures 3 inches diameter and weighs 114.8 grams.
