Description

An enchanting and romantic antique solid gold heart shaped locket which was assayed at Birmingham in 1906. Both sides of the locket are adorned with ornate engravings. The heart shape and heart cartouche of course, symbolise love, compassion, joy and charity. Above the cartouche are two forget-me-nots. Elaborate acanthus leaves adorn the anterior surface. Acanthus leaves symbolise immortality, rebirth, longevity and healing. Just under the heart cartouche is an ivy leaf. The back is also decorated with ivy leaves which represent everlasting love, deep friendship, fidelity, or wedded bliss. The locket is in very good condition. It is without any dings. The hinge and catch work perfectly. The interior contains the original gold frames. Each internal compartment is suitable for the inclusion of photographs. Attractive backings are present with one of the original clear photograph protectors.
