A elegant fully hallmarked .950 silver and gold plated cigarette or business card case. This piece was made by the highly regarded maker Georges Malneux. He was only active from 1914 to 1924 and so his creations are hard to find. The mark of Georges Malneux - 'un mortier lançant une fusée, une étoile au-dessous' (a mortar launching a rocket, a star below). The lid & base have the most elegant engine turned designs with rose gold & 9 ct yellow gold plated bands. This high quality case has a dark blue sapphire cabochon thumb catch which operates a spring loaded catch. Push the cabochon & the case glides open to reveal a richly gilded case. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. Ideal for small business cards. Measures 8.3 cm X 5.7 cm & weighs 69.4 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
