Description

A beautiful black and gold 1950s refillable powder compact in very good condition. This compact mirror is suitable for both loose and pressed face powder. The lid decoration features a gilt metallic rose with foliage arranged to form a perfectly balanced composition. The lid decoration is pristine as it is protected by the original cellulose acetate cover. The whole item has acquired a deep golden patina and it will retain its attractive appearance without ever needing to be cleaned. Lift the lid to see and excellent mirror surrounded by a golden bezel. This compact is suitable for use with pans of compressed face powder measuring 67 mm diameter, such as Max Factor 'Creme Puff', Rimmel 'Stay Matte' and Constance Carroll CCUK. The original unused puff and sifter are present and so it can also be used with loose face powder. The base has a engraved spiral design. Measures just over 2 3/4" and weighs 63.4 grams.

Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
