A super and highly collectible hallmarked sterling silver Siam niello powder compact made in the 1940s. The composition of this vanity makes this an ideal and practical silver wedding anniversary gift. The lid is decorated with an adorable finely engraved elephant. The neillo is highly reflective and so these images are reflecting the surroundings. The first two photographs in no way do this wonderful collectible justice. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror gives a good and accurate reflection. This is a mid-century compact in very good condition. The base is decorated with delightful image in silver of Nang Fa (The Fairy of Happiness). The compact is signed 'BANGKOK SIAM STERLING'. The reflective nature of the lid & base make it difficult to photograph. In person it is much more attractive & the engraving on the silver outstandingly beautiful. This vintage Siam niello compact mirror measures 2 1/2" & weighs 71.7 grams.
