A gorgeous unused enamel Stratton Rondette powder compact in superb new old stock condition. The lid is the most lustrous brown enamel with white dog roses and foliage. There isn't any loss of enamel or design. The whole item was coated during the manufacturing process with a layer of transparent enamel which will prevent it from ever tarnishing. This vanity will retain its beauty and never need to be cleaned. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The interior is fitted with the Stratton patented self-opening inner lid. Just tilt the mirror back slightly and the lid to the powder well compartment opens with ease. The original mirror sticker is in place. The powder well lid has an engine turned design of vertical lines and smooth gold tone borders. It is signed 'Stratton' within a square cartouche containing the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo. The underside of the inner lid is satinized which adds to the luxurious appearance of this high quality mid-century accessory. The delightful little puff is pristine and signed 'Stratton'. The pouch is made from good quality thick black felt. Even the original presentation box is in good order. The whole item gleams. The base is also signed 'Stratton England' and it is decorated with smooth tone stars on a background of a minutely engraved engine turned design. It is just like going back in the day and buying this Rondette compact from the makers, Laughton & Sons Ltd. This powder compact is suitable for modern loose face powders or as a handbag mirror. It measures 7.3 cm and weighs 74.4 grams.
