An unused 1960s Stratton 'Convertible' powder compact in superb new old stock condition. The lid is decorated with a very beautiful and complex engine turned design which is diamond cut, as the makers would say 'REAL DIAMOND CUT FRONT'. The gilt lid and whole item gleams in the light. As this accessory was coated with transparent enamel during the manufacturing process it will never tarnish, lose its attractive qualities or need to be cleaned. The composition is intersected by four vertical lines. This accessory is an really good example of how skilled the workforce of Stratton were and what pride they had in their workmanship. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The mirror gives a good and accurate reflection. The powder well is coated with a protective layer of pristine white enamel. Patterns of smooth gold tone stars in circles border the maker's signature which reads as follows 'Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND'. This vintage compact mirror measures 3" and weighs 96 grams.This compact is suitable for use with all standard pans of modern face powder. The following brands have kept their powder pans the same sizes as they were in the 1950s and so they fit perfectly: Max Factor Creme Puff, Rimmel Stay Matte, CCUK Constance Carroll and Miss Beauty.
