An attractive unused vintage Stratton 'Convertible' powder compact which is suitable for use with modern loose face powder and also compressed face powder. The lid is adorned with a pristine silver & marcasite floral motif, set atop an etched background. The makers, Laughton & Sons Ltd. described this etched design as 'Linen'. The whole item is like the day it was made - a beautiful and highly reliable accessory. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror gives a clear & accurate reflection. The original velour edged sifter, instruction leaflet, inspection docket and padded paper insert are in place. The base is decorated with tiny chevrons and vertical lines - an engine turned design which hides the appearance of fingerprints. Measures 3 inches and weighs 100.5 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
