Such an adorable 1950s Melissa musical powder box in superb condition. The lid decoration is charming & evocative of British summer time. The beautifully engraved lid has the shape of a cloud & inside this shape three Swallows can be seen soaring above the sea which has waves engraved & in the distance two Seagulls. In the foreground finely engraved bullrushes. The music box comes come complete with the original box, felt pouch, instruction leaflet, puff & sifter. The box still has the label in place stating this musical powder box plays 'Brahms Lullaby Made in England'. The puff has the Melissa crown trademark. The music box plays really well. The all gilt jeweller's / jeweler's finish throughout the item is excellent & protected with a coat of lacquer & so it will never need to be cleaned. A very sound little musical powder box! The tune could make this a perfectly themed christening gift. This powder box measures 4" & weighs 176.8 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
