A rare and exceptionally beautiful mid-century Stratton 'Musica' (musical) powder box in superb condition. The enchanting lid is hand painted enamel - correct in every detail. The scene is taken from a photograph by the famous Royal Court Photographer Stirling Henry Nahum, whose professional name was Baron. Svetlana Beriosova is depicted in fine detail (Swan Lake). There isn't any enamel loss and the whole piece is a joy to behold. The enamel scene is signed 'Baron'. Wind the key clockwise & the tune plays very well. The gleaming interior contains an excellent bevelled mirror which gives a very clear and accurate reflection. The inner lid is signed " Stratton " & has the " Compact-in-Hand " logo & an attractive pattern made up of horizontal lines. The patented self-opening inner lid works perfectly every time. The winder key is signed " REUGE STE. CROIX PATENT and "SWISS MADE." The base is very beautiful & shows the "curled feathers" design which is used on the most luxurious Stratton accessories. A treasure that is sure to delight. Measures: 3 1/4 " X 2 3/4" & weighs 169.3 grams.
