A beautiful mid-century Kigu loose powder compact with the original accessories. The compact has a gleaming gilt finish that was coated at the point of manufacture with a layer of transparent enamel. This means that it will never tarnish or need to be cleaned. The high quality brass of this collectible makes it a suitable 21st (brass) anniversary gift. The design of this vanity is Art Deco inspired, symmetrical and very beautiful. The 'barley corn' engine turned design contrasts with the smooth gold tone oblong cartouche and vertical lines which symbolize the fabulous skyscrapers of the Art Deco period. The images really do not do this item justice - it is much more golden and shiny than it appears here. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent and it gives a clear / accurate reflection. The powder well is protected by golden enamel paint. The original pouchette and puff are signed 'KIGU'. The original sifter is present. All are in super condition. The inner lid is decorated with an exquisite guilloche engraved design which resembles a honeycomb. Set in the middle of its gleaming interior, the inner lid is signed 'KIGU' within an oval cartouche. This lid is held firmly in place by the Kigu registered sliding catch. The base is no less eye-catching with a precision detailed engine turned golden 'barley corn' design framed by a smooth gold tone border. This vintage compact mirror measures 3" x 2 1/4" & weighs 95.4 grams.
