Rare Ruskin Pottery Arts and Crafts High Fired Dual Glaze Vase 1922.A highly rare and desirable example of a dual glaze Ruskin high fired vase c1922.
Exhibiting an unusual dual glaze technique we can only find only one further example which is shown in the Atterbury & Henson book of Ruskin pottery on page 108 bottom left, the famous tea caddy always retained by Taylor's wife considered to be a premier example of his work.
There are two distinct bands of glaze. One in typical running sang de boeuf and the other with Taylor's distinct spotted green black transmutations. The contrast is superb.
This glaze technique is both highly technical and one that is most difficult to achieve with any degree of success. It is no wonder few examples exist.
Size: 16cm (6.25") high x 9cm (3.5") diameter.
Marks: Impressed mark Ruskin England 1922.
Date: 1922.
Condition: In excellent original condition.
