For sale today we have this superb Little Miss Muffet plaque by the Compton Pottery, Guildford. To a design by Mary Seton Watts, the plaque features Miss Muffet eating her curd and whey from a bowl on a grassy hillock, dotted with colourful mushrooms. Behind her are hills and trees with a bright, shining sun. To the top left of the plaque is a large ominous looking spider, creeping along a web that's bordered with a thorny blackberry bramble. A charming scene from this child's nursery rhyme.

A really well detailed casting, with good depth to the relief work. The tempera paint is in excellent order.
21cm x 17cm, fully stamped "Compton Pottery Guildford" along with a "Made in England" mark.
