Antique George III Solid Silver Caster

Description

This is a fine example of an antique solid sterling silver caster made during the reign of George III.

Hallmarked within the base, with the assay office mark of London 1771 and the maker's mark for Thomas Shepherd, the caster is in a classic baluster form with an engraved lion crest on the front. The pierced pull off cover fits snugly and there is an urn shaped finial.
