Description

A magnificent solid sterling silver George III gaming counter box with four assorted counters.

Hallmarked clearly for Birmingham 1796 with the maker's mark for the highly esteemed silversmith, Samuel Pemberton, the box contains four mother of pearl counters. Each is carved, the largest with a picture of a pagoda and the other three with flowers. The counters are bent and discoloured and have clearly been used.

There is a small amount of damage to the silver lid which is too close to the hallmark to be repaired. The box has been used and there are light abrasions over the silver surface.

A wonderful piece of history.
