Antique Victorian Solid Silver Pounce Pot 1884

Description

This is an excellent example of an ornate Victorian pounce or sand pot, found on a desk to dry ink on document, letters etc.

Made from solid sterling silver, it is clearly hallmarked on the side for London 1884, with the maker's mark of Thomas White. There is also a partial hallmark inside the lid.

The lid is domed and fits tightly to the base. The decoration is floral on the body of the pot with a pedestal stand over a square base. The gilding inside is in excellent condition.

Maximum height: 8.8cm
