Description

This is a wonderful heavy antique solid sterling silver-lidded biscuit box dating from the start of the First World War, reflecting the Art Deco style of the times.

Given it's age, the condition is remarkable. There are light abrasions on the silver lid but the glass is completely undamaged.

The lid and silver rim are hallmarked for Birmingham 1914, with the maker's mark of Hukin & Heath Ltd. There is also a further mark inside the lid - 1078S. The applied finger handle and swing handle are firmly attached and carry conforming hallmarks. The glass body has curved sides, angular corners and a classic star burst base.
