Description

This is an attractive and unusual solid sterling silver box. With its hinged lip, it is similar to (but not big enough for) a sandwich box and so I think it must either be a Bible box or playing card box.

It is hallmarked on the side for Birmingham 1914, with partial hallmarks on the lid and hinged lip. It is a completely plain, rectangular box with no engravings or decoration. The hinged lip at the front allows the cards to be pulled out. It is pictured with a standard pack of playing cards but would fit two miniature packs, side by side. The silver is in excellent condition.
