Description

A very sweet early 19th century carved mahogany snuff box in the form of a shoe. Finely carved detail of all the stitching to the sides and heel, and the laces to the tongue, topped off with a tiny love heart at the top. Brass pique work is used sparsely to the upper just for the boot holes and a single pin to the back with further decoration to the sole. A sliding lid reveals a very small compartment for snuff. An unusual and charming example, c.1810.

It measures 7.3cm (2 7/8") long, 4cm (1 9/16") high and 2cm (3/4").

In excellent condition just a few tiny historic dings and nicks here and there and a lovely rich patina.
