This is a very pretty late Victorian striking carriage clock manufactured by Mappin and Webb, Paris for their store in London. The 6" high brass case has a filigree frieze to the top and base, and fluted pillars to the sides, the 5 beveled glass panels are in excellent order, with only a very small inclusion to the lower edge of the door panel. The gilt masked dial has a silvered ring with recessed black Arabic Numerals and is signed Mappin and Webb, Paris, London W1, complemented by a gilt filigree center and original blued steel spade hands. The 8-day movement striking the hours and half hour with external top repeater button on a gong has its original lever platform escapement and is in fine working order.
