Description

An attractive set of twelve Arts & Crafts/Art Nouveau walnut high back dining chairs attributed to Shapland & Petter and dating to circa 1880. With scroll ears and shaped toprail carved with acanthus roundels above four tapering splats and similarly shaped bottom rail. On channelled seat frame with shaped square tapering legs and inset padded seats. One chair slightly larger with cover-over seat for the head of the table (carver).

In good condition with nice colour and grain, these have been newly upholstered in a neutral beige/gold coloured chenille type fabric with gold & pale green braid. Some dents and marks consistent with age and use, mainly to the lower halves of the chairs and front seat corners.
