Victorian Mahogany Three Door Fitted Wardrobe
Description
A good quality English Victorian mahogany three door wardrobe dating to circa1870. Of rounded design with a moulded cornice above three arched panelled doors which open to reveal a compactum like fitted interior with a double width long hanging space, hat shelf, sliding trays and drawers. Featuring nice moulding and unusual curl figuring to the veneers it has two surface mounted replacement locks & escutcheons, original brass catches and stands on a plinth base. The interior has an old green cotton lining (ready for replacement) and the original brass rope twist ceramic topped hooks.Of solid construction, with tight joints and dovetailed drawers, the colour & polish has mellowed and although none of the following are very noticeable there are some faded spots at the bottom of the doors, some small amounts of veneer loss to the lower edges of the door and an old repair at the top hinge on the left door, there is also a chip to the very back lower left corner.
The overall dimensions at the largest points are approximately
Width - 76 3/4in (195cm)
Depth - 25 3/4in (65.5cm)
Height - 82 3/4in (210cm)
Internal depth - 19 3/4in (50cm)
Internal height of hanging section - 57in (145cm)
For transportation and moving this wardrobe splits into five sections (cornice, plinth, left hanging section, right fitted section, centre door).
