Description

19th century oak & parquetry topped refectory dining/centre table

This is good, rare 19th century Jacobean style oak and parquetry table with geometric inlays of walnut and mahogany, oak cross banding and a moulded edge. The carved frieze has two secret drawers with oak linings and stands on heavily carved baluster turned legs with a carved and turned H-stretcher to the base.

It is in good, solid condition with marks and shrinkage lines as expected for the age and all giving it delightful character. There are two spandrils missing from the frieze on one side, chips out the feet and a small chip out the moulding on the left side of the left drawer.

Overall it is a most unusual, versatile and desirable table.
