Description

A fine quality miniature 8 day duration Biedermeier Viennese regulator wall clock, circa 1850.
The beautifully figured, perfectly proportioned, rosewood case inlaid throughout with boxwood stringing, surmounted with the original carved cresting with matching well executed carving to the base and detailed work flanking the glazed front door. Excellent colour and patination.
Glazed sides to the case showing the movement and pendulum action.
Silvered beat plate to the lower backboard.
The one piece enameled dial with Roman numerals surrounded to the outer edge with a finely detailed gilded piecrust bezel.
The fully restored eight day duration movement with deadbeat escapement and maintaining power, fine quality wheel work and pinions throughout.
Polished brass cased weight, spoked ornate pulley, polished brass bob pendulum (front and back) with ebonised wooden rod.
Delicately fretted blued steel hands of "beetle and poker" design.
Overall a rare clock of small proportions in excellent original condition with the movement fully restored.
This type of Viennese regulator wall clock were entirely hand made by a time served master clockmaker and were only made for the most discerning customers and took many months to complete individually.
