Description

The most impeccable antique 18ct gold mourning ring.

This ring has everything going for it and it is truly a showstopper.

A central glazed hairwork panel is surrounded by lustrous creamy pearls in a halo border, pearls representing tears in mourning jewellery.

The shoulders are thick and decorated with black enamel with a buckle design, the buckle symbolising amongst other things holding something / someone close.

The remainder of the band is also decorated with 'In Memory Of', the black enamel found on mourning jewellery representing death.

It has a closed back setting and this has been inscribed:
'My dear sister, obit, 16th Nov 1904'

The ring is fully hallmarked for 18ct gold, Birmingham assay office, 1904, maker W. W. possibly William Warr.

It has a large profile and is quite heavy, a ring that needs a finger all to itself.

It comes in the original antique ring box.

Condition:
Very good condition overall, this ring has been very well looked after, light surface wear under loupe, small nick to the glazed panel.
