Pastel portrait of ‘Pisco’ an Italian Greyhound by the renowned artist Mary Browning
Browning was an acclaimed equine and canine artist, she painted dogs for over forty years, and had strong royal connections having painted dogs belonging to the late HM Queen Elizabeth II, the late Queen Mother, Princess Anne, the Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Michael of Kent.
Mary had a particular love of sighthounds and lived with Italian Greyhounds. She was particularly keen to help those Italian Greyhounds that had fallen on hard times and her affection for the breed was reflected in the beautiful artworks she created.
