Description

A wonderfully proportioned Georgian (early 19th century) four door mahogany breakfront library bookcase, the cornice with dentil moulding and central carved swag relief above four astragal glazed doors each with 13 separate panes of glass which are original with waves and bubbles characteristic of its period manufacture with the central doors retaining their full length brass edge protection beading.

The base of 9 drawers (3 small, 3 large, 3 small) have their original handles with the central drawers retaining their original locks.

The rear of the bookcase shows the magnificent panelling used by the cabinetmaker in its construction giving this example superior strength and durability.

The bookcases have 22 guides each allowing easy adjustment for your books with the outer bookcases having 4 shelves and the inner central with 3.

The bookcase has recently been polished by our restorer bringing out the natural beauty of the mahogany.
