Description

This fine pair of Chinese black lacquered and gilt rice carriers or storage boxes have bases with a centre removable tray and lid. The handle is fixed to the base and is decorated with birds and floral motifs. The domed lids have different scenes lacquered in gilt. Each box is numbered separately in each section. These were thought to be made in the late 19th or early 20th century in China and are made of wood, lacquered with gilt decoration.
